I know I’m a stranger, just another nameless shadow passing by your life. But I would rather share this with you, than somebody who knows of my crooked nose. Maybe they had it right all along: “Give a man a mask and he’ll tell you the truth”.

I used to feel so down all the time. So alone. But what I realized is that eventually you get used to that, start to believe it, and even start to enjoy feeling down. Its like a bottle that never runs dry. You can reach for it over and over again. But sooner or later you just gotta move on. Its hard to do, but it’s something you know needs to be done. But what happens then is what we call “failure”. You try to change something in your life and eventually you hit the first wall – you fall down. It is inevitable. Then you are tempted to reach for the bottle again and cry, but no, you know better by now. You are in hell, that’s true, but now you believe you can fight your way back into the light. Then you start the journey of coming into terms with your limitations and weaknesses as a human being. That you can’t save the world. After all, you can’t even handle yourself yet. You’re just another puny human, trying to get by. It’s tough to accept your weak self, but eventually you do and that opens the path to becoming stronger. With this new gained knowledge, you continue to make mistakes, failing day after day. People will mock you, people will laugh. But deep down you know, you’re gonna bust through this wall soon, you will move on, while they will still be standing next to that same wall… laughing at somebody else who’s trying to get further ahead. Now you got it figured out. It’s as if nothing has changed. You’re still in hell, there are still tough times, but somehow the world is now a different place. It was never about where you started, how many times you failed or how pathetic you were compared to someone else. No, all along… it was simply about playing the game. Victory and defeat are illusions of the mind, but the distance you travel in your life isn’t. I will never stop moving.
