“I went through a lot of trouble for this, you know.” Mom had said that while I was eating a slice of birthday cake.
"I wasn’t able to get a slice for myself, unfortunately.”
I stopped eating and put the fork down when she had said that.
“Oh. I didn’t know.” I had said and she laughed
“Figures. You never really did understand what I went through for you.” She huffed, shaking her head.
I looked down at the cake. I had only eaten a third of it, but I wasn’t hungry anymore. I tried to give her some, but she refused. She said it would make her fat.
