I’m so scared I will end up like my Dad and cheat on my girlfriend. Even though I don’t want to… I’m sure he didn’t want to either a couple of years ago 🙁
What your father has done in the past holds absolutely no sway over what you are going to do in the future. You can do whatever you feel is right. You don’t have to do the same thing your father did.
My grandfather had three divorces by the time my dad was twenty. Dad was afraid he would have similar patterns in marriage in his life.
Today, he’s happily married to my mother.
You see, it’s all up to you and how you shape your life.
ahh, I feel this way a lot. My mother cheated on my father at a very serious time in my life and told me for 10 years that she was going to divorce my dad when I graduated high school. She did just that. I worry all the time that one day I migt be weak like she was… but ultimately its my own decision and I am the only one responsible for my own actions. You are as well. Take control of your life and show your dad what it’s like to love and persevere honestly throughout a relationship. Realize that loving someone is a choice and not a feeling.feelings WILL fade. Realizing this is the most important thing.
Woops… that made it sound like my Dad cheated on my girlfriend, haha. I meant he cheated on my Mom…
