When Elsa returned from a long absence in late 2019 and turned into a villain by attacking an injured Rapunzel, Anna was reticent to comment on it because anything she said could be taken out of context, but settled for saying that while Elsa was still her sister, Rapunzel was her friend. On the night of her own villain turn, she had come out to protect Rapunzel from another attack by Elsa, and found herself between a rock and a hard place before ultimately choosing Elsa.
