one of my closest friends is an atheist. recently he started questioning me about “if God is real, why does bad things happen blah blahblah..” A lot of people asak that question, its just the way he approached it.It felt as if he was completely raging at me about it. I dont get why he could be so rude and disrespectful about my beliefs…he’s never done it before.
i turn to my best friend, one I can always count on. she said that he is turning out to be a negative influence on my life …
I feel like i need to change.
but i feel like I’m obliged, as a friend, to fix this mess up. I feel like I should apologise to him? I dont know. I know I shouldn’t because, theres nothin to apologise about, but I feel like I have to. Ugh, it’s seriously doing my head in. 🙁
Sorry if this wasted a few minutes of your life.

No you did not waste my time. That would be hard. What you need to do is to tell your friend that he really hurts your feelings when he bashes your religion. A real friend would respect your beliefs and understand that everyone has different views when it comes to religion. Be honest with your friend.

There’s no reason for you to even worry. Worry will do nothing for you. Aside from being honest, if that doesn’t work, simply understanding everyone has different views is okay. Realize your belief in your religion is strong enough to not be changed by someone else’s comments, and you’ll be fine. He likes blue, you like red. Arguing otherwise would be impossible, so accept it. It’s the same thing in this case. Let it wash over you like a river over a stone.

Also, since you mentioned he suddenly attacked you about it, think of this “If God was real, why do bad things happen blah blah blah..” Usually, when people question God with anger and fury, something has happened.
Even an atheist would back down and understand your view even if they don’t agree. So, talk to your friend. Something probably happened.
