In this way I see education as a life-long pursuit. I have been able to learn from everyone I’ve met in my journey and hope that this knowledge may help others as they embark upon theirs. Open School strikes a chord within me as it is brave enough to be the outlier, serving young people who had yet to find fulfillment in traditional environments. This challenging of the traditional narrative speaks volumes to me as so many of my influences were teachers who took the time and care to invest in me beyond what was expected via the traditional structure. Their guidance coupled with my determination led me to appreciate and honor education in the ways I do now. Should there be a program to fit non-traditional needs, I believe many students would thrive within it. My experience as a non-traditional student and my passion for learning make me a uniquely qualified candidate for your organization. I readily look forward to being able to contribute to and grow the community in a way that is genuine to my beliefs and authentic to myself.

My name is and I have found a non-traditional path through my education. As an adolescent I often asked philosophical questions that, while sincere, were not always considered meaningful or relevant by my teachers. As an adult seeking broader educational experiences I have found myself attending multiple colleges and seeking a wide variety of educational styles as a means of addressing my inquisitiveness. This process has changed my mind in regard to not only my education but also myself.
