Since David’s death, I’ve had time to reflect. As time goes on I remember his idiosyncrasies that made me love him and dome that made me crazy. But one thing I know is that I will no longer be taunted or silenced with respect to my feelings and involvement with anyone. My heart and soul may not be congruent with the stays quo but no one will again interfere with my choices. David and I were like Romeo and Juliet because of many players involved. We had a very grey relationship because life is never what you expect. Having to fight for who you love because it doesn’t fit convention is antiquated thinking. In the end, I believe many factors played into our complex but passionate love affair. Nonetheless, the system failed us and ,I am left to pick up the pieces and hold on to memories…some good and some less shiny. I search for answers that may never come to fruition. My heart aches but at least David…my lover and friend may now find peace.
